Uho taha/en

In traditional Tongan society it was quite normal for a woman (especially a chiefess) to bear children from several men, whether or not she was still unmarried or already married with one of them. The term "illigitimate" did not exist in that time. In any case the sons from such a mother were supposed to support each other, especially the oldest taking care of his younger brothers. There was no need for rivalry among them. As such the term uho taha - united navelstring - for brothers of the same mother but different fathers. FOKI
